Travel insurance- to be short, it’s a good idea. There are all types of packages out there, for all different budgets. If you’re taking some sort of organized tour, travel insurance is most-likely a prerequisite. If you’re going it on your own, you go at your own risk if you don’t have some sort of insurance coverage. Not only does it protect you should something happen where you need medical attention in a foreign country, but most policies have coverage options for canceled/delayed travel, lost baggage/belongings, even coverage for stolen electronics and/or jewelry. Do some research online, talk to your domestic insurance agent, see what options are out there, consider what your trip entails and what you intend to pack, and find a policy that fits your budget. Hopefully, you’ll never have to use it, but should you have to, the premium paid will be well worth the coverage and the money saved in the end. Honestly, you’re a bit crazy if you travel WITHOUT some sort of travel insurance- even if it’s the most basic coverage.
